Physicians owe a duty of care their patients and act in accordance with medical standards, and if they breach these obligations, they may be subject to legal and criminal liability. Disputes arising from medical malpractice are increasing every year in the world and in our country. Long and arduous judicial processes may prevent some patients and their relatives from accessing justice, and patients and their relatives who apply to the judiciary also experience a long and burdensome process. It is inevitable that physicians who are investigated or sued for malpractice will experience psychological problems, especially burnout syndrome and depression. All these unfavourable conditions have led to the search for other alternatives for resolving disputes arising from medical malpractice, the most prominent of which is mediation. The aim of our work is to contribute to the dissemination of awareness and a culture of compromise in disputes arising from malpractice. This study is limited to the micro-area where medical malpractice is evaluated from a mediation perspective. In the first part of our study, the general concept and definition of medical malpractice is made. The second part of our study focuses on the regulation of mediation in Turkish legislation and the reasons why mediation is preferred in health law. The evaluations reached as a result of international - national practices and literature review are included in the conclusion section.

Periprosthetic infections that develop after total joint arthroplasty are serious complications that can reduce patients' quality of life and lead to high morbidity. In diagnosing periprosthetic infections, international criteria such as MSIS, ICM, and EBJIS are used, along with diagnostic tests like tissue culture, synovial fluid analysis, alpha-defensin, D-dimer, and interleukin-6. Since each test has varying specificity and sensitivity rates, a multifaceted approach is necessary for accurate infection diagnosis.
